Hello.
I'm from Russia. I like song Оj Косово Very Happy (You can donwload it here)
Here is lyrics:
Sa Kosova zora svice, svice, svice novi dan
Gracanica sva u sjaju docekuje Vidovdan
Oj Kosovo,Kosovo zemljo moja voljena
Zemljo slavnih vitezova Lazara i Milosa

Sve delije od Srbije, svako srce ponosno
Voli i ljubi zemlju svoju Gazimestan Kosovo
Oj Kosovo, Kosovo zemljo moja voljena
Zemljo slavnih vitezova Lazara i Milosa

Srbadija klice cela "Ne damo te Kosovo"
To je nase uvek bilo od dedova ostalo
Oj Kosovo, Kosovo zemljo moja voljena
Zemljo slavnih vitezova Lazara i Milosa

Though Serbian and Russian language are very similar, I can't translate this song, so could you translate this song to English or Russian.
I've translated only this:
"Oj Kosovo, Kosovo zemljo moja voljena, Zemljo slavnih vitezova Lazara i Milosa" = "Oh Kosovo, Kosovo, my free land, the land of great warriors Lazar and Milos" and "To je nase uvek bilo od dedova ostalo" - "This is our land forever, it was left to us by our granfathers".

I've always considered Serbinas as brothers to us, Russians. And it's very sad to me what's happening to your country now.
And I want to add that I'm not pure Russian, I'm half Russian, half Belarussian, so I want to say that all the Eastern Slavs should unite.

The dawn rises from Kosovo, rises, rises the new day
Gracanica (the church) all shiny, awaits Vidovdan

Oi Kosovo, Kosovo my loved land, the land of great knights Lazar and Milos.

All heroes from Serbia, every heart is proud,
love and kiss your country- Gazimestan Kosovo

All Serbs shout "We are not giving away Kosovo"
it was always ours, through ages it stayed ours

what's Vidovdan and Gazimestan?

And i was wrong when translated "zemljo moja voljena" as "my free land" and not "my loved land". it's because in russian "воля, вольный" is "freedom, free"

Vidovdan (Видовдан) is a religious holiday, St. Vitus' Day. with June 28 in the Gregorian Calendar.

* on June 28, 1389 the Ottoman Empire fought against Serbia in the Battle of Kosovo, and Serbian Prince Lazar was slain in battle.

and Gazimestan is the site of the historic battle.

Smile

Very Happy )

But Turkish emperor Murat was slain too* Wink All Serbian soldiers were kiled that day but they stoped Turkish armies for couple days and that was enough for other european armies to regroup..
* Serbian hero Milos Obilic went behind enemy lines, he said that he wants to kneel before Otoman emperor.. Because he was considered for he greatest serbian soldier, it was seen as an act of humiliation and turkish elite officers led him to the tent of an emperor. When he kneeled before Murat he pulled his hidden knife and slained him.. Couple minutes after Milos's head was choped off.. (this is not a legend theese are historical facts)

they were stopped for several years, decades... its the main reason why we have every right to celebrate it as the greatest victory in our history

Thats not main reason, the main reason why we celebrate this batle is becose our ruler St Tzar Lazar choose Heaven Kingdom insted of kingdom on Earth. Rest it is hard to explain in english, for me.

Yes, we don't celebrate victory, we celebrate our choice >
it is better to die honorable, than to live in shame...

The same thing we had in russian history. In 1380 russian army under the command of prince Dmitriy (afterwards he was called Дмитрий Донской) fought against Tartaro-Mongols at Kulikovo field (Куликово поле). Though we won that battle, it wasn't the end of the Tartaro-Mongol oppression. But it was the first time me showed them our power, and from this moment russian lands began to unite to a single state - Russia.
